Ongoing classes for children 8-10 years on the program “Children and War: Teaching Recovery Techniques” in Irpen, Kiev region. Classes are held in the framework of the “Helping Hand for Ukraine” project based on the Public Center for Work with Internally Displaced Persons in Irpen. Every Saturday, the Center collects children from 3 to 12 years, organizing interesting and varied leisure for them, where volunteer teachers work with children in art therapy, communicate, and in breaks delight with sweets and warm tea.

Boys and girls come to the group of psychological support according to the method “Children and War: Teaching Recovery Techniques” at the Center for the fourth Saturday in a row and with great pleasure, because here they train to be the “bosses” of their fears, nightmares and obsessive memories, share their feelings, master the respiratory exercise and practice relaxation, draw their fears to see “their eyes” and learn to manage them. And this Saturday, November 10, under the experienced guidance of the program coaches, Alexei Sukhov and Svetlana Fesik, the classes began either for parents. Fathers and mothers who are not indifferent to the feelings and destinies of their children learn the same self-help techniques as their children did, talk about their feelings and experiences, learn to listen and hear their children and of course try to understand how they can be useful for children in conditions of stress, trauma, difficult circumstances.

Special thanks to American photographer Joseph Samuel from Indiana, who captured the events of one day at the Center and these wonderful children’s emotions on his camera!
