On March 21, in Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky town (the Kyiv District) supervision of two therapeutic groups that work by the program “Children and War. Teaching Recovery Techniques” was conducted by Irina Sukhova, the psychologist and the manager of the “Helping Hand for Ukraine” project.
Trainings for 20 students of the technical school are conducted in the Center of professional and technical education. Four trainers who learnt this program in January 2018 on the training for psychologists of Kyiv and the Kyiv District worked with the kids. This is Svetlana Gerasina (Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky State Pedagogical University named after Grigory Skovoroda, Chair of Psychology), Tatyana Kuzmenko (consulting psychologist of psychological medical pedagogical service and the professor of the public organization «Institute of Public Initiatives Support», the manager of the Center of psychological development of adults and children «Dialogue»), Vera Nikolaenko (psychologist of the Center of social security of elderly people and invalids, volunteer psychologist the public organization «Institute of Public Initiatives Support»).
It was quite challenging for the psychologists to work with children as each of them has their own story linked to the events in the East of Ukraine. Young people mastered new techniques, learnt how to overcome intrusive memories, nightmares, anxiety and fears.
The funds for the therapy in Kyiv and Kyiv region were raised during “Gala of HOPE” charity concert held in June 2017 in Zurich, Switzerland. It was organised by “HOPE worldwide Zurich” and “u l t r a S c h a l l” ensemble.
