Why do we help:

We believe that not only state have to care for children who suffer poverty. Each member of society could make its own contribution to the development of social and charitable programs. Even if a person can not attend charity events and activities for various reasons personally, he may show a participation in any other acceptable manner. Someone can help in finding sponsors and partners for financing of the projects and programs. Someone writes the scripts, provides advisory services, and organizes the collection of charitable donations. Someone works with the press and other mass-media, highlighting the needs and problems of orphans, disabled and seriously ill children.

Any assistance like transportation, brochures and booklets printing or competent advice is a great support in the work of each charity organizations.

The role of volunteers is invaluable in the organization. Groups of people with different talents and abilities can have a positive impact on those who can not take care of themselves for various reasons or who are in very difficult circumstances.

According to statistics there are more that 100 thousand orphans in Ukraine. Annually more than 1000 orphans graduate boarding schools in the age of 15-18 years. A sociological survey carried out by the State Institute of Family and Youth with the support of UNICEF in Ukraine showed that 18 percent of graduating orphans “have no idea how they are going to live independently,” 31% are “very afraid” of living adult lives, and 52% are somewhat worried about their future. Only 6% feel confident about making it on their own. As a result, out of almost 1000 orphans released by the Ukrainian foster-care system, 60% of girls become prostitutes and 70% of boys get involved into criminal activity.

Social adaptation through the communication with persons who lead a full life is very urgent for these children. And it is important to implement just when the future graduates still live and study in boarding schools.

Price of indifference about the fate of children from disadvantaged families is high. A society that does not care about these children, inevitably faces with the demonstration of their antisocial behavior. Daily.

Number of blood donors has been declined extremely in Kiev and Ukraine for the last 10 years. Needs of blood medicine at hospitals are satisfied only by 15-25% from World Health Organization standard. According to the Kyiv Municipal Blood Center the need for donors exceeds the supply by five times.

The lack of donor blood threatens the lives of children and adults every day.
According to the Center for Medical Statistics Ministry of Health of Ukraine and National Cancer Registry there are about 1 000 new cases of cancer and leukemia among children under the age of 14 in Ukraine each year, it is 10-12 cases per 100 thousand population of children. Actual results are 30 percent up

About 75% of children who have been identified cancer, receive special treatment, but every fifth child with solid tumor and every third child with leukemia dies up to one year from diagnosis. Only about 40% of such children live five or more years: with all varieties of malignant tumors - 47%, with solid tumors - 41%, with leukemia - 44%, with lymphoma - 59%, with tumors of the central nervous system - 32%.

The experience of millennia and scientific developments of the twentieth century have led to only 50% effective treatment. Unfortunately, this percentage will decline without new technologies for prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
