On May 22, the volunteers held the 5th “Children and War. Teaching Recovery Techniques” therapy session for the group of children and a group of parents IDPs, who live in the temporary IDPs camp in “Kuyalnyk” sanatorium in Odesa. Previous therapy sessions, third and fourth within therapy course, took place on May 8 and 15 respectively.
Participants of children group (9 kids) and adult group (9 parents) learned the relaxation techniques. Trainers were teaching children and adults how to form positive thoughts. They also studied an interesting and useful topic – skills of controlling own body and emotions.
All children received therapy “art-kits” thanks to the support of our Canadian partners and donors – “HOPE worldwide of Canada” charity organisation and Ukrainian Credit Union (Canada).
After the sessions the trainers had a supervision session during which they themselves practiced the same techniques their students used, since our trainers also need to overcome negative emotions and know how to stay positive.
“Children and War” therapy sessions have been launched by volunteers for children, traumatized by war in Eastern Ukraine and occupation of Crimea, and their parents who live in Odesa region within Phase III of the “Helping Hand for Ukraine” International Relief Project.
