“Children and War: Teaching Recovery Techniques” therapy sessions were conducted in January-February 2018 for children Krasnohorivka village, Maryinka district of Donetsk region. The therapy marked the start of the “Psychological Assistance to Children Living in the “Red” Zone of War Conflict” project (Helping Hand for Ukraine). The Project is implemented with support of Canada Fund for Local Initiatives within the frames of partnership between Foundation and the Embassy of Canada to Ukraine. Seven therapy sessions consisting the “Children and War” course took place on January 22, 26, 29, 31 and February 05, 07, 12 respectively The therapy was carried out in two children’s (21 children aged from 10 to 15) and one parent (6 parents) groups. The trainers noted that thanks to the therapy the emotional state of the children improved considerably. Many of them managed to get rid of obsessive memories and nightmares. The participants acquired an important psychological skill of psychological self-regulation, which is very important especially for people living in the conflict territory. They learned to relax and talk through their fears. The self-esteem and trust in children increased; they formed a positive vision of their own future.
