The “Children and War: Teaching Recovery Techniques” therapy course was held for first-year students of Kurakhove professional lyceum on February 01 in Kurakhove, Donetsk region. Therapy sessions in a group of 18 children aged 15 years were held within the framework of the “Helping Hand for Ukraine” project, implemented by “HOPE worldwide Ukraine” Charity Foundation in cooperation with “HOPE worldwide Canada”.
With the help of professional trainers, participants of the “Helping Hand for Ukraine” project, children learned about the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder and discussed how to deal with the effects of trauma. They also mastered the “safe place” exercise and replenished their experience with resourceful art-therapy techniques.
