The “Children and War: Teaching Recovery Techniques” therapy sessions were launched in February in two public school (#219 and #232) of Obolon District of Kyiv. Therapy sessions are conducted with the “Helping Hand for Ukraine” project. About 35 children, primary and secondary school students, take part in the therapy course. Psychologists who had been through the intesive training in January 2018 work with children from families that moved to Kyiv from Donetsk and Luhansk regions. They talk about influence of traumatizing events and stress on children’s psychological and emotional condition. The children are practicing relaxation breathing techniques and learning how to overcome anxiety, fears, and intrusive memories.
The funds for the therapy in Kyiv schools were raised during “Gala of HOPE” charity concert held in June 2017 in Zurich, Switzerland. It was organised by “HOPE worldwide Zurich” and “u l t r a S c h a l l” ensemble.
