In May 2018, within the framework of “Helping Hand for Ukraine” project, therapeutic classes were held on the method “Children and War: Teaching Recovery Techniques” in Gornyak town, Donetsk region. The trainers of the program Elena Gaviada and Marina Fedosova were working with a group of 15 parents, whose children are planning to go to the children’s camp in June to work on the same program.
Such training for the whole family of techniques for overcoming post-traumatic stress disorder will provide a more comprehensive approach to the issue of healing; all participants will learn practical skills and exercises that will help them now and in the future. Parents got an understanding of what is happening to their children and how they can be useful to them on an everyday basis, because they live in the zone of military conflict in the east of Ukraine and are constantly under the threat of attacks.
Funds for therapy in the Donetsk region were collected during the charity concert “Gala of HOPE”, which was held in June 2017 in Zurich (Switzerland) by the Charity Foundation “HOPE worldwide Zurich” and the ensemble “u l t r a s c h a l l”.
