On January 23, 2019, seventeen new specialists from Starobelsk, Svatovo and Rubezhnoye of Lugansk region received certificates from the trainers of the program “Children and War. Teaching Recovery Techniques”. At the meeting, they all noted the relevance of the topic of training in their region, where the war has swept through many cities and towns. For most of the children with whom the specialists worked, this was the first experience of participation in group therapy in principle and the first experience with painful memories. Nevertheless, the children reluctantly parted with the coaches and with each other in the last lesson, and the schools already had a “turn” among those who wanted to work with their fears, plunge into an atmosphere of therapeutic trust and support, and study self-help techniques. For 3 months of participation in the project, the coaches conducted 17 groups on the program “Children and War. Teaching Recovery Techniques” for children and their parents. In total, in the Luhansk region in the second half of 2018, 220 children and 103 parents received psychological assistance as part of the “Helping Hand for Ukraine” project.
