On February 20, the volunteers from “HOPE worldwide Ukraine” Charity Foundation visited children at Velykopolovetske comprehensive education boarding school. Despite the rainy and windy weather, children were waiting for the guests outside, at the gate.
The volunteers held a third lesson for the “Kindergarten” group: they talked with kids about creation of the world. Children were dancing, singing, drawing and socializing. The “Superbook Club” meeting with children from primary and middle school also took place on that day. Together with volunteers children discussed obedience, very important topic for them. Older students participated in the discussion within “Learning about God” program. They learned how to set boundaries (rules) and also talked about very interesting for their age topic of “Friendship. Infatuation. Love”. Everyone was active and energetic. The discussion took place in the atmosphere of trust, mutual understanding and respect.
At the regular meeting of the “Women’s Club” girls shared their feelings and concerns, also talked about fashion and styles of clothing. There is a positive trend – girls look tidier, they show interest in themselves as personalities. They start to understand that they are special and that they do not have to look and behave like boys. It is getting more and more interesting for them to dress up and pay attention to details.
Those who wished to express themselves through art had a chance to do that at the “Art Saloon”. Children colored anti-stress coloring pages with pleasure. After the lessons everyone enjoyed tea with sweets, socializing and games.
Volunteer’s Feedback
“It is so rewarding that the number of children who come to our lessons does not decrease and children become more open and friendly. All our meetings are special. And it is special when you realize that for someone you are the only person they can talk to. We can tell a lot, but it is always better to come and see and feel it. With every trip we open the new horizons – new needs of children, new opportunities for volunteers. It is also nice that we also have children in our volunteers’ team, who are happy to give their hearts to kids at the boarding school”.
