Ira Sukhova, chief psychologist and project manager of the “Helping Hand for Ukraine” project, and Olen Sokolovska, regional representative of the Foundation in Western Ukraine, participated in the 9th Ecumenical Social Week “Migration: Challenge for Ukraine”, dedicated to the issue of internally displaced persons (IDPs). The event took place in Lviv and lasted from September 28 till October 02, 2016. It was organised by Ukrainian Catholic University and visited by representatives of non-governmental organisations, state institutions, religious organisations and churches.
Participants of the “Role of Church in Work with IDPs” round table discussed the issues urgent for Ukraine. Representatives of all churches called upon tolerance towards IDPs, assistance in social adaptation in new communities. It was mutually agreed upon that only consensus of community and authorities, NGOs, churches, media and educators will foster the socialization of the IDPs in Ukraine.
Representatives of non-governmental organisations, of “HOPE worldwide Ukraine” Charity Foundation in particular, along with the representatives of regional social services centres, ATO participants and IDPs support centres had an opportunity to share experiences and plans for the nearest future.
