November 23 in the framework of the “Helping Hand for Ukraine” project a supervision took place in the village of Gorskoe, Popasnyansky district, Luhansk region. The project psychologists Irina and Alexei Sukhov visited their friends, coaches of the program “Children and War: Teaching Recovery Techniques”, strengthened them and gave them news and words of support from all over Ukraine.
Gorskoe is located 7 km from the demarcation line. Villagers constantly hear the sounds of shelling. Many houses and yards are damaged by recent hostilities. Trainers Irina Zhadik and Lyudmila Romanenko living in Gorsky conduct classes on the program “Children and War: Teaching Recovery Techniques” in the local children’s library. Children of 7-8 years old draw with pleasure, diligently write the names of techniques in notebooks and practice them. Sometimes it seems that they are about to start messing around, because such small ones should also be restless, but no – they sit as if they were shown a movie! In addition, these children are very wary of touching: they are not used to be embraced. Therefore, many tactile games are introduced into the class, aimed at overcoming this fear and relaxation.
We would like to express special thanks to the coaches! Living in a war zone and every day experiencing personal stress and difficulties in the current circumstances, they nevertheless find the strength and faith to encourage children and their parents, providing them with psychological help! Your work is important and very valuable! We wish you strength, patience, well-being and excellent results in your work!
