The annual training for the volunteers of “HOPE worldwide Ukraine” Charity Foundation took place on October 10-11. The volunteers came from different cities of Ukraine: Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Khartsyzsk, Donetsk, Bila Tserkva, Vinnytsya and Kyiv. Over 120 people came together to share their experiences, learn to serve people and get inspired to implement new ideas.
The whole first day was dedicated to the development of the new projects for children’s boarding schools and nursing homes for the elderly. The participants of the training were guided by Maryna Romanenko, psychologist and director of the First Children’s Academy. The volunteers were looking for answers to the questions what is volunteering for them and why they serve as volunteers. They discussed the importance of understanding one’s role in the program, importance of being taught and prepared, and being able to take the responsibility for the program implementation. Only thanks to all these components can the volunteer work become successful and efficient!
On the second day of the training Yuriy Kovtonyuk, evangelist, was preaching from the Bible about the heart of the shepherd who cares about his sheep, in other words – about people in need. After that the participants discussed the topic of communication, conflict resolution, personal boundaries, affection and sympathy in relations with people from institutions that volunteers work with. This part of training was conducted by Lyubov Loriashvili, leading specialist of Kyiv City Center of Social Services for Family, Children and Youth, and her assistant Dmytro Malkov.
A warm and cozy atmosphere of kindness, smiles, and kind words of support, inspiration and new ideas added to the success of the event.
