There are a lot of children in the village school of the village of Pervomayskoye, Yasinovatsky district, Donetsk region, although this settlement is located in the immediate vicinity of the demarcation zone. Children love very much when psychologists from the international organization “Man in Need” come to them. They are smart and empathic, but also interesting and optimistic people. In November-December 2021, psychologists of this organization, as well as trainers of the “Children and War. Teaching Recovering Techniques” program, Mikhail Shapovalov and Rushaniya Kudyakova, conducted classes for 7 middle-grade children at the school. According to them, the children “got involved” in the work immediately. For example, Vanya, literally at the very first meeting, told that he could not stand the smell of burnt feathers and that this was due to the chicken coop that burned down after the shelling. The participants really liked the techniques “Tablet”, “Screen”, “Safe place”. They were happy to talk about how they used them in certain situations, including at school, and then shared their experience at home with their parents, mainly with mothers. At the final “banquet” (as the guys called the tea party with sweets at the last meeting of the group), the trainers and participants actively discussed the entire cycle of classes. There were many words of appreciation and gratitude from the students, some of them said that, applying new skills and techniques in everyday life, they began to feel much calmer.
