On December 20, 2018, in the framework of the “Helping Hand for Ukraine” project, a meeting of Irina and Alexey Sukhovs from Kiev with Elena Mirna and Marina Fedosova, our tireless, active and wonderful trainers of the program “Children and War. Teaching Recovery Techniques”.
Elena and Marina live in close proximity to the combat zone and conduct group classes “Children and War” with children and adults from small towns and cities of Donetsk region, where humanitarian missions and international funds do not reach. They distribute humanitarian aid to those in need from volunteers of the “HOPE Worldwide Ukraine” Charity Foundation and other kind people from different cities of Ukraine, organize holidays with presents for children, and go with them to summer camps. Looking at the poverty and insecurity of this region, understanding the scale of needs and necessary assistance, our coaches do not despair, but take up the matter with double zeal: “Children are our future, and we really want them to be healthy.” Here, for example, in December, Elena and Marina completed another course in the Children and War program at the vocational school in the city Gornyak for 22 young men and women who were trained in coping with stress and the consequences of traumatic events, and helped them to master the exercises to combat fears and obsessive memories.
School teachers appealed to specialists with the request to conduct the same training during the holidays for them. Well, good luck! Thank you, colleagues, for caring and not-indifferent hearts and let you succeed! We are also grateful to the psychologist and supervisor of our project, Ekaterina Bakhmetyeva, and thank you for supporting the program in the Donetsk region!
