The “Children and War: Teaching Recovery Techniques” training was held in Kyiv on January 26-28, in the framework of the “Helping Hand for Ukraine” project, and with the assistance of the Department of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of the Kyiv City State Administration and the Department of Education of Podilskyi district of Kyiv.
The event was organized for school psychologists, social pedagogues, practicing psychologists and volunteers of the “HOPE worldwide Ukraine” Charity Foundation. 24 specialists from Kyiv, Bila Tserkva, Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky took part in it. All of them plan to conduct “Children and War: Teaching Recovery Techniques” therapy courses for IDP children and parents in Kyiv and Kyiv region.
The three days of training were very intense and difficult, but the commitment and dedication to their cause and children, the desire to grow professionally, serve and be useful to those who need it, helped the participants to gain new experience, knowledge and resources. Everyone was able to practice (individually and in mini-groups) different methods of working with trauma, techniques of emotional and psychological self-regulation. The specialists were trained by the leading psychologist of the “Helping Hand for Ukraine” project, psychotherapist Iryna Sukhova, family and child psychologist, therapist and program trainer Natalia Podolyak, psychologist and specialist in the provision of therapy for children and adolescents Snizhana Volokh.

The funds for the training in Kyiv were raised during “Gala of HOPE” charity concert held in June 2017 in Zurich, Switzerland. It was organised by “HOPE worldwide Zurich” and “u l t r a S c h a l l” ensemble.
