On April 5-7, 2022 the “Children and War. Teaching Recovering Techniques” training took place in Rzhyshchiv, Kyiv region. It was initiated by the Christians of the Kyiv Church of Christ local branch. There are only about 10 thousand people living in Rzhyshchiv, yet since the beginning of the war against Ukraine, the city has received many IDPs. The event was attended not only by the church community members but also by local professionals from the Inclusive Resource Center, Pivtsi Secondary School, and internally displaced people. The training took place in the premises of the local Evangelical Church and with the support of the mayor of Rzhyshchiv Khrystyna Chornenka.
The trainer of the “Helping Hand for Ukraine” project Natalia Podoliak has worked with 10 participants on understanding the nature of child trauma, healing these wounds through the “Children and War. Teaching Recovery Techniques” program, and simple but much-needed ways to help children in this turbulent time in Ukraine.
