Another meeting of the residents of Kyiv Geriatric Nursing Home (Kyiv, Budarina st., 11) and over 100 young volunteers of our Foundation took place on October 5. The meeting was held in a warm and cozy atmosphere. The first part of the meeting included the banquet and a concert program. Young talents performed modern songs and opera arias that touched the souls of the audience. After the concert, the youngsters went to the rooms to communicate with the elderly. Everyone had a chance to talk in a quiet atmosphere. Apart from physical needs, socializing is one of the main emotional needs of the lonely elderly. Moreover, those residents of the nursing homes who are on bedrest need it the most. The meeting of such different and distant from each other generations turned out to be quite interesting and inspiring. The elderly could share their life experience and feel better thanks to the attention and care form their guests, younger friends. In addition, the teenagers got an opportunity to reconsider and reevaluate some of the values and life principles. People form older generation confessed that it was the first time that an event of this kind happened in their nursing home. Moreover, the younger generation decided to conduct such events on a regular basis.
