On February 27, the team of psychologists from “HOPE worldwide Ukraine” Charity Foundation held the first “Children and War. Teaching Recovery Techniques” therapy session for children in “Barvinok” Children’s Sanatorium (Boyarka, Kyiv region). The administration of the sanatorium made a request to the Foundation upon recommendation from the partner organization, in cooperation with which the Foundation held therapy sessions for IDPs (internally displaced persons) children and parents at “Sofia Kyivska” National Reserve.
Therapy sessions are conducted for two groups of children – primary school kids and teenagers. Two psychologists, Svitlana Fesyk and Nataliya Yevstratyeva, who took the training course in Kyiv and Korostyshiv within Phase I of the “Helping and for Ukraine” project, work with children. The sessions will take place twice a week.
“Barvinok” Children’s Sanatorium received children with complicated living circumstances (orphans, children from dysfunctional families). Currently, 54 children are staying at the sanatorium, among them – 16 internally displaced children. Therapy groups consist from IDPs children and children who suffered from psychological trauma related to violence in peaceful time.
