On June 05, 06, 07 and 12, the volunteers of HOPE Singles Corps project visited the recreational summer camp near Kyiv, organized for children from Maryinka. The volunteers met with children, took part in the camp program together with them. They also held different master-classes for children.

Here are several feedbacks from the HSC volunteers.

Wade Cook (Denver, USA, Vice President of U.S. Programs in HOPE worldwide)
“This part of the trip was my favorite because we got to spend so much time with the kids. We played games, sang songs, and had organized activities to do with them. The counselors the camp hired are wonderful people who were really engaged with the kids. I respected them a lot.”

Ivonne Nicole Adame, (Colorado, USA)
“For our final service project, we spent time at a therapy camp doing various activities with children from the war zone. These children were exposed to violence and death; some were even orphaned. We organized craft, dancing, and learning activities for the children. Despite the suffering they have witnessed, they had so much love to give to us. They would greet us with joy and excitement. It amazed me to see their resilience through that trauma. Often times we think that we are going to be the givers but in reality these children have given so much to us. ”

Megan Schwaller, (Сhicago, USA)
“Getting to spend a few days with kids from the war zone was amazing. They have been through difficult experiences and they needed a friend to be there for them. Someone to hug, to laugh, and to dance with them. It’s simple. We just needed to be there for them the way any friend would be. These are friends I will never forget”
