On May 7, therapy sessions started in Odesa in the premises of the partner-organisations of the Foundation: “The Way Home: Charity Foundation and Odesa regional NGO “Association of Intellectuals “Assembly”. The first therapy session gave an opportunity for participants and volunteers to meet each other; conduct teambuilding exercises and create a positive atmosphere. Children worked in two groups – younger (8 kids) and older (3 kids). The group of parents consisted of 8 persons. During the first sessions they filled out questionnaires.
Our trainers-volunteers – psychologists, employees of Odesa social service, Odesa region state emergency service, volunteers from NGOs – are united by the desire to provide professional assistance to the IDPs. After the first therapy session they initiated the creation of “Children and War” Trainers” group to coordinate further work and experience sharing.
“Children and War” therapy sessions have been launched by volunteers for children, traumatized by war in Eastern Ukraine and occupation of Crimea, and their parents who live in Odesa region within Phase III of the “Helping Hand for Ukraine” International Relief Project.
